Find a Safe Remover
How to find a Safe Remover
The purpose of this page is to give you the information you need to identify a remover that can provide you with a quality service and a carefree move.
As a trade association The National Guild of Removers & Storers have in recent years set many quality standards within the removals industry. This has been recognised by the UK's leading consumer organisation who rated us joint best of the trade associations in the country and certainly the best of the choices available in the removals industry. So much so that they actually suggested that their readers look up a member of The Guild when choosing a remover.
We are also proud to have pioneered The National Independent Removals Industry Inspectorate (NIRII) which remains the only independent inspectorate of removal companies and the ground breaking Removals Industry Ombudsman Scheme.
Through us you can have confidence in our carefully selected members.
Bad idea
There are no laws in the UK governing who can set up as a remover and rogues, cowboys or inexperienced untrained and enthusiastic amateurs will try and tempt you with cheap prices. Don't risk your home and wordly possesions on what appears to be a bargain.
Unique inspections & safeguards
Each and every Guild Member is also a member of the Removals Industry Ombudsman Scheme and as such has to pass independent inspection by an Ombudsman Scheme approved inspectorate. Each and every Guild Member also has to sign up to a comprehensive Ombudsman Scheme approved Code of Practice and agrees to be continually monitored via quality questionnaires.

To ensure that all our members continue to meet the high standards that we set, we employ the removal industry's only independent inspectorate to vet them. The inspection routines are approved by The Removal Industry Ombudsman Scheme and the inspections are carried out by The National Independent Removals Industry Inspectorate (NIRII).
100% Transparency
Following succesful inspection and accreditation (including but not limited to checks into their financial stability and confirmation of all relevant insurance cover) NIRII issues each member with a report, a copy of which is included in their customers information pack. This means you can tell at a glance what your remover has to offer and gives you confirmation of the full inspection and accreditation procedures they have had to pass to gain and uphold their Guild membership status.
Continual quality monitoring
During or directly after your move your remover will also give you a pre-paid Quality Questionnaire card featuring various questions on the services provided for you during the moving process. The reply paid cards come directly to the Guild to enable us to independently and continually monitor our members' performances.
The best consumer protection methods
But there is now a way to ensure that your precious belongings are in the hands of an experienced and committed removal business. By choosing a member of The National Guild of Removers and Storers you will be selecting a company with a unique raft of consumer protection measures, in fact, by far the best available in today's moving market.
The safer way to move
No other organisation or firm is close to matching The Guild and its Members when it comes to consumer protection measures.
